A customer came in today with an Amex gift card “supposedly” good at a Mall other than the one where my job is located. The terms and conditions of the card say it must be used only at stores located at the other Mall which also accept Amex. However, when we rang it up, the transaction was accepted by Amex. Will this come back to bite the store on the proverbial behind? I really need to know asap because $ 100+ worth of sales depends on what happens next (possibly even my job). Thanks.

This woman is making me NOT enjoy the planning and preparing for my wedding. She has SOOOOO many demands, and when they are not met, she makes life HARD for her son and I. I usually cave in because 1) I don’t have the time to fight her, given I work a FT job and am planning a wedding and 2) She has never worked a day in her life, doesn’t clean or cook, but just sits at home with nothing to do.
This last antic of hers is truly causing the most problems…trust me, there is more she’s doing, but here is the biggest issue:
I refused to put “MONETARY GIFTS ONLY” on my invitations. This is what she was demanding for a very long time. In her anger, she printed little cards that say “MONETARY GIFTS ONLY”. (BTW, they are from Canada). People gave $ 200, $ 300, some even $ 1000 in wedding cash gifts.
She is NOW taking a “collector’s fee” from these monies!!!!!!!!!!! She says to me, “Well, you didn’t want cash gifts, so why are you worried about the money?”
On top of the WEDDING costs….I am paying her son’s IMMIGRATION FEES from Canada!!!!!!!! Anyone who is familiar with the process knows that this is some serious money, and it is costing us about $ 4,000.
Her son (my fiance) has NO backbone; she has groomed all of her 3 sons to worship her, so I cannot ask him to stand up to her. I didn’t want to be at odds with my MIL, I always dreamt I would get along with whomever it was, but this lady is making it impossible to do so! She has even called me a couple of names, and I never said anything.
How can I stand UP to her without being rude or disrespectful?

Did she steal the cards and is taking cash out of them?
Gifts -wether cards or boxed items – should be in YOUR possession, not hers.
If you find out she has stolen money from your gifts, I think you should call the cops and have her charged with stealing.
